Day To Day
Happy
June to you all! Wow, that came up on us pretty fast. Spring has
been a busy season here with lots and lots of yard business going
on and even the beginnings of porch painting. I'm a little behind
where I thought I'd be right now,

but
not terribly, and nothing I can't catch up on fairly quickly once I
put my mind to it. The yard is in good shape now with just some
weeding to do to make it look Nice. The new flower beds are looking
quite healthy, and I even found my first little blooms beginning to
pop up this morning. By the end of this month we should be seeing
blooms popping out all over! I've also got a full coat of primer on
the front porch, white for the railings and grey for the floor and
steps so it actually looks finished from a distance. Very NIce. I
have another coat of the real paint to get on there before long,
and I think after that I will call it Done. As for the back porch I
haven't even touched it yet! But it's getting stained instead of
painted, and it doesn't have all those spindles and posts to worry
over, so it should go much more quickly I think, possibly a two day
job. So we are definitely seeing the light at the end of the tunnel
around here project wise. It feels great!

And
the timing couldn't be better. V and I have been talking a lot
about our future plans, and these days my thoughts are turning ever
more to the years ahead and moving myself and the kitty pirate crew
over seas. It's still a ways off, V doesn't finish her doctorate
until next January, and then we'll have to see where she lands that
first veterinary job, but the day dreaming has already begun. My
head is generally full of the Scottish Highlands these days! That's
our first choice of home, anywhere in Scotland really, but our
hearts are in the Highlands. And in typical me fashion I have been
doing that late night googling for 'things wonderful and generally
unattainable', in this case, houses in the Highlands. And guess
what? I found a lot of them! Of course this is way, way premature,
and I really am just day dreaming at this point, but it made me
feel happy none-the-less to discover some really charming (and
affordable) homes scattered around the Highlands. So just for fun I
thought I'd share a few of them with you. Just click on the four
house pictures in this post and you'll be whisked away to a listing
for each of them.

The
first is a cute little two bedroom home on the banks of the River
Tilt. I love the deck, and I can just imagine listening to the
sound of the river all night long, sleeping with the windows open
as often as we could. It just has a nice homey feel to it, almost
like a vacation cabin! Except one we'd get to live in every day.
Very Nice.
And
then there's this lovely cottage in Bora. It has three bedrooms and
a charming little backyard for the cats to play in. It looks
wonderful on the inside, I love that bathroom! And it has the most
gorgeous sweeping views of the countryside around. I know I would
be a very happy camper looking out on that vista every day. Who
wouldn't be?
Speaking
of vistas, check out the views around this one. Mountains! I love
mountains. This one is in Wester Ross. It has 3 bedrooms too and a
great kitchen. I could definitely see making pancakes for V in the
mornings before work and then enjoying a good cup of coffee and the
view out the kitchen window. And all three of the cats would love
roaming those fields and hills. ^-^
And
last we have this, a two bedroom on The Isle of Skye. I love The
Isle of Skye. I used to tell my friends that if I ever disappeared
and they wanted to find me to look on The Isle of Skye! There's
just something about that place. It feels Right to me. The whole
isle is filled with dramatic landscapes. I can imagine walking out
the door and into a time hundreds of years in the distant past.
Just like that.

All
of you who know me know that I've talked about living in Scotland
for years and years now. It was just another one of those "A Ha"
moments for V and I when we realized that we shared that particular
dream. In fact, one of the first plans we ever made was to take a
road trip through the Highlands together as a way to celebrate her
finishing vet school. That was almost two years ago now that we
first started talking about those holiday plans and teasing each
other about driving on the left side of the road! And now here we
are two years later planning to move to Scotland together. Life is
full of surprises! I love it. Adventure! And we're both excited now
to see what the next few years have in store for us. Wait &
see, that's what we always say to each other.
Wait
& see!
